There was once a man who went his entire life without getting married.
When he was ninety years old and lying on his deathbed, one of his relatives finally asked him a question everyone had wondered about for years.
“You never married, but you never really told us why. Now that you’re at the end of your life, can you tell us the truth? If there’s some secret behind it, you may as well share it now.”
The old man smiled faintly.
“Yes, there is a reason,” he said. “It’s not that I was against marriage. I simply spent my life looking for the perfect woman.”
He paused for a moment.
“I traveled, met countless people, and kept believing that somewhere out there I would find the one person who had everything I was looking for. Before I knew it, the years had passed.”
His relative stared at him.
“You mean to tell me that in all those years, in a world filled with millions of women, you never found even one who was perfect?”
A tear rolled down the old man’s cheek.
“Oh, I found her,” he said.
The relative looked shocked.
“You did? Then what happened? Why didn’t you marry her?”
The old man gave a tired little smile.
“She was looking for the perfect man.”
