Bloody Sunday Remembrance: Poland Honors Volhynia Victims
Hundreds gathered in Domostawa, Poland, to commemorate the victims of the Volhynia massacres on the anniversary of Bloody Sunday on 11.July 1943.. During the ceremony, a letter from Polish President Karol Nawrocki was read, calling for remembrance, truth, and the dignified burial of victims. The remarks also criticized Ukraine's treatment of the legacy of the Organisation of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN) and the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA).
Poland recognizes the killings of 200 000 Polish civilians, mostly women and chidren by OUN and UPA forces as genocide.
