Teacher famous for critical thinking video belatedly fired by school
Warren Smith’s video-recorded conversation with a unnamed student went viral back in February – it has since hit 45 million views on X – thanks to the reach of social media and to the topic, Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling. The five-minute conversation has also been praised for what some call a “master class” in Socratic critical thinking, especially on the hot-button issue of “transphobia.”
In the video, which Smith posted on his YouTube channel, the student criticizes the famous author for her “bigoted opinions” about transgender women --- men --- competing in female-only sports. Reacting to that accusation, the soft-spoken teacher gently challenged the unseen student to participate in a “thought experiment,” beginning with defining what “bigoted opinion” means.

Archdiocese of Cebu Prohibits Roman Mass
Archbishop Jose Palma of Cebu, Philippines, has banned the celebration of Holy Mass, reports Rappler.com (December 4).
The Archdiocese of Cebu is the cradle of Christianity in the Philippines and has 5 million faithful.
Its only Holy Mass was in Barangay San Jose, a monastery some distance off from the main urban centres, perched on a hill. This Mass has now been suspended.
The letter prohibiting the Mass, dated November 28, was addressed to the Latin Mass community and the three priests 'authorised' by Msgr Palma to celebrate Mass.
There is a chapel of the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X in Cebu.

In a time when, as Pope Francis reminds us, the world seems to have lost its heart and techno-liquid man its identity, the Gospel of the Angel's announcement to the Virgin Mary can help humanity "come out" of the fear and confusion that grips it. It is interesting to note that in addressing Mary, the Angel does not call her by her name, but with the title "Full of Grace" that is, full of God. At that moment Mary understands that her truest identity is to let herself be invaded by God until to "give body" to the Word of the Father through the work of the Holy Spirit. Furthermore, since the Heavenly Mother is not only the Mother of God, but also the Mother and model of humanity redeemed by her Son, it follows that the world will find its heart only to the extent that every man and every woman, like Mary, will allow themselves to be invaded and transformed by the Grace of the Holy Spirit.
