Quotes from the Saints on the Passion of Our Lord
Let us hear from the saints how profitable to our souls it is to meditate on the sufferings of Our Lord.
St. Bonaventure:
“He who desires to go on advancing from virtue to virtue, from grace to grace, should meditate continually on the Passion of Jesus. . . there is no practice more profitable for the entire sanctification of the soul than the frequent meditation of the sufferings of Jesus Christ.”
St. Thomas Aquinas:
“I have drawn more wisdom from the Cross at the feet of Jesus Crucified than from any learned treatise ever written.” St. Augustine: A single tear shed at the remembrance of the Passion of Jesus is worth more than a pilgrimage to Jerusalem, or a year of fasting on bread and water. St. John of the Cross: “Whenever anything disagreeable or displeasing happens to you, remember Christ crucified and be silent.” St. Paul of the Cross: “The Passion of Christ is the greatest and …More

Writings Of Saint Thomas Aquinas For Lent, Audiobook, The Holy Roman Catholic Church.
sendereduardoquesadabadilla on Feb 13, 2017. The Angelic Doctor gives a sermon for each day from Septuagesima Sunday until Holy Saturday, including Ash Wednesday, and the Lenten Ember Days. In the Summa Theologica Saint Thomas asks the question if three in the afternoon is the suitable time for the faster's meal. Indeed he lived in a time when the laws of fasting were more rigorously observed than today. On the Thursday after Ash Wednesday, Aquinas explains the three reasons why we fast, during Lent. Anyone who wishes to truly follow the spirit of Lent must meditate on these holy lessons! St. Alphonsus writes: “a single bad book will be sufficient to cause the destruction of a monastery.” Pope Pius XII wrote in 1947 at the beatification of Blessed Maria Goretti: “There rises to Our lips the cry of the Saviour: 'Woe to the world because of scandals!' (Matthew 18:7).

Reluctant Saint - Francis of Assisi.
Andi on Jul 29, 2015 Saint Francis, the son of a merchant of Assisi, was born in the year 1182 in a poor stable, his birth already prophesying the Saint who would preach poverty to a world seduced by luxury. Though chosen by God to be for the world a living manifestation of Christ's poor and suffering life on earth, in his youth he was generous, always of equal humor, and much appreciated by his friends; he was fond of splendors, fine clothing, and good company, and easily won the affection of all who knew him. More than once various holy persons foretold for him a future of glory, but in veiled terms. Francis did not understand these predictions, and supposed he would become the leader of a large militia.
The military life he had adopted ended when Jesus told him he was destined to fight another kind of combat, one against the demon and sin; that the grandeurs predicted were spiritual, not temporal — and to return home. He became inspired with a …More

Mother Theodore Guerin -- October 3
Mr.EricMurray Trust in God’s Providence enabled Mother Theodore to leave her homeland, sail halfway around the world, and found a new religious congregation.
Born in Etables, France, Anne-Thérèse Guerin’s life was shattered by her father’s murder when she was 15. For several years she cared for her mother and younger sister. She entered the Sisters of Providence in 1823, taking the name Sister St. Theodore. An illness during novitiate left her with lifelong fragile health; that did not keep her from becoming an accomplished teacher.
At the invitation of the bishop of Vincennes, she and five sisters were sent in 1840 to Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana, to teach and to care for the sick poor. She was to establish a motherhouse and novitiate. For several months, they lived packed into the small frontier farmhouse of the local Thralls family along with a few postulants that had been waiting for them when they arrived. Only later did she learn that her …More

JESUS TRIUMPHAL ENTRY IN JERUSALEM.
mondoworld on Oct 1, 2014 Easter is only a few days away. Jesus makes his triumphant entry into Jerusalem, while the Sanhedrin keeps open a watchful eye for the first possible occasion to arrest him. At the Temple, the priests and Pharisees try to trap him with insidious questions. Then Jesus goes into the Temple to pray, and as he leaves, he throws out the merchants who crowd the Court of the Gentiles and restores the Temple to its function as a place of prayer. A riot breaks out and the guards intervene, but Jesus is already far from the scene, and is about to leave the city.

From a letter of Bishop Richard Williamson:
On august 18, 1996, in St Mary’s parish church in the centre of Buenos Aires, Argentina, Fr Alejandro Pezet was finishing distributing communion (of a new Mass, for sure) when a woman told him of a discarded host at the back of the church. A parishioner having received communion in the hand must have dropped it on their way out of church and abandoned it as being too dirty to be consumed off the floor.
Fr Pezet picked it up, put it correctly in a vase of water and placed it in the tabernacle where in a few days it would normally dissolve and could be properly disposed of. However, when on August 26 he opened the tabernacle, what was his surprise to find that the host had turned into a bloody substance.
Photographs taken on Bishop Bergoglio’s orders 11 days later showed that it had significantly increased in size. For three years it was kept under strict secret in the tabernacle, but in 1999 then Archbishop Bergoglio decided to carry out a …More

The Keys to the Kingdom (1944)
verdadeiroroman on Aug 18, 2013 Father Francis Chisholm (Gregory Peck) is visited in his old age by Monsignor Sleeth (Sir Cedric Hardwicke) at his parish in Tweedside. The Monsignor informs Father Francis that the Bishop thinks it would be better if he retires, as Father Francis' somewhat unorthodox recent teachings have become a distraction. The Monsignor retires to his room in the rectory, and finds Father Francis' diary that recounts his story from 1878. As the Monsignor begins to read the diary, a flashback begins.
One night during his childhood, Francis' father was beaten by an anti-Catholic mob during a rainstorm. As his mother attempts to lead her husband to safety, they both die in a bridge collapse, leaving young Francis an orphan. He is raised by his aunt, and the next we see of Francis, he is leaving for the seminary with his childhood friend, Anselm "Angus" Mealey (Vincent Price). Francis studies at seminary for a year, but is unsure about …More

Indifferentism {1}
3. Among the many deplorable evils which disturb and afflict both ecclesiastical and civil society, two stand out in our day and are justly considered to be the cause of the others. In effect, you are aware of the innumerable and fatal damages which the hideous error of indifferentism causes to Christian and civil society. It causes us to forget out duties to God in whom we live and act and have our being. It causes us to slacken our concern for holy religion and shakes almost to destruction the very basis of all law, justice, and virtue. There is little difference between this hideous form of indifference and the devilish system of indifference between the different religions. This belief embraces people who have strayed from the truth, who are enemies of the true faith and forget their own salvation, and who teach contradictory beliefs without firm doctrine. They make no distinction between the different creeds, agree with everybody, and maintain that the haven of …More
