"Strong Lobby Within the Church for the Homosexual Agenda": Rev Donald Haggerty of St. Patrick’s Cathedral, New York, criticized during a May 11 homily the Vatican Synod study document proposing a “reconsideration” of homosexual relations: "It’s kind of stunning to have that coming out of a document from the Vatican." He added that "there is a strong lobby within the Church for the homosexual agenda".

Fr. Donald Haggerty denounced the Synod study document’s proposed “rethinking” of homosexuality as a disturbing challenge to Catholic teaching.

At the age of 42, Scott Vincent Borba gave up his fortune and entered the seminary.
Now at 52 years of age, Borba, a former actor, designer, model and singer, is set to be ordained on May 23 in Visalia by the Diocese of Fresno.
“We ran around with the likes of, Paris Hilton, and partying with Kardashians and just doing up the Hollywood life. I was a poster boy for luxury living. I was not in any which way humble. I was very prideful,” he said during an interview.
“I asked our Lord to help me be the man that he created me to be.”
“And upon that instance, I had this massive flood of love and mercy that came into my life. It was a very mystical experience.”
What an amazing story.

My biggest criticism of Pope Leo's first year in office: the grave scandal of keeping Cardinal Fernandez as head of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith.

Why do these "trad caths" always shield Leo XIV from the wind? He is responsible for all the documents the DDF produces. His signature is on them. When Leo does not fire Fernandez, it means that he wants to take responsibility for all the heresies the DDF produces. That he shares the same believes. So if anyone has to leave, it is Leo XIV. Fernandez is merely his pawn.

Bishop Varden on hope, AI, patience — and not weaponizing Christianity
BALTIMORE (OSV News) — During his May 7 visit to St. Mary’s Seminary in Baltimore, Bishop Erik Varden of Trondheim, Norway, a member of the Trappist monastic order, sat down with OSV News to share his insights on Christian hope, the dangers of AI and weaponizing the Christian faith, and the need for patience in the spiritual life.

Noruega: Mons.

Bishop Varden on hope, AI, patience - and not …
This interview has been edited for length and clarity.
OSV News: You provided the reflections for the Lenten Spiritual Exercises in the Vatican for Pope Leo XIV and others, and in your final reflection, you focused on the theme of communicating hope. In the U.S. there’s been a real interest in Nordic noir films and books — often bleak and morally ambiguous — and a perception that Nordic culture is broadly the same. Do you find any irony in a Nordic bishop focusing on hope?
Bishop Varden: Well, your question makes me smile, because I’ve lived in a number of different countries, mainly in Europe, and I find that the more you move south in Europe, the more people have extravagant notions of the North, and the more they assume that it is an area of the world plunged in perpetual darkness, where everyone is given to drink and excess, and where everyone is on antidepressants, and where people keep killing themselves with axes.
And it isn’t …

Our Lady of Fatima - May 13
Also known as
Lady of the Rosary (she called herself that when Lucia asked her name)
Memorial
13 May
Article
Commemorates the apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary to three children in Fatima, Portugal on the 13th of each month from May to October in 1917. Our Lady appeared to Venerable Lucia dos Santos, age 9, Blessed Francisco Marto, age 8, and Blessed Jacinta Marto, age 6, while they were tending sheep; they described her as “a woman all in white, more brilliant than the sun”, and her message was to do reparation for sins that offend God, and to pray constantly for the conversion of sinners. She asked for devotion to the Holy Trinity, and for praying the Rosary daily for world peace. Word spread, and by the final apparition on 13 October, 70,000 people showed up to witness the Lady and the sign that she had promised; they witnessed the sun make three circles and zigzag around in the sky.

Pope to Vatican Observatory: Church embraces science to find God in Creation
As he meets with the Vatican Observatory Foundation, Pope Leo XIV upholds the Catholic Church’s desire to seek God in His Creation through rigorous, honest science.

Pope to Vatican Observatory: Church embraces …
Pope Leo XIV held an audience on Monday with the Board of the Vatican Observatory Foundation.
In his address, the Pope recalled that Pope Leo XIII re-founded the Vatican Observatory in 1891, at a time when science was being presented as a rival source of truth to religion.
The 19th-century Pope said he was re-founding the institution so that, “everyone might see clearly that the Church and her Pastors are not opposed to true and solid science, whether human or divine, but that they embrace it, encourage it, and promote it with the fullest possible devotion.”
However, in our own times, both faith and science face a more insidious threat from those who deny the very existence of objective truth, said Pope Leo XIV.
“Too many in our world refuse to acknowledge what both science and the Church plainly teach,” he said, “that we bear a solemn responsibility for the stewardship of our planet and for the welfare of those who dwell upon it, especially …

Fatima Reveals Truth Most Catholics Ignore
St. Paul’s experience in Athens highlights the importance of focusing on Jesus Christ and His crucifixion. Despite the Holy Spirit’s guidance and the truth revealed through Our Lady of Fatima, many resist the message of repentance and the necessity of embracing the cross for salvation. The Church and its members must confront this truth and choose to follow Christ’s path, even if it leads to suffering.

Would You Trust Pete Hegseth With $1.5 Trillion of Your Money?

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth recently asked Congress for a staggering amount of money: $1.5 trillion. That’s a more than 40 percent increase from last year’s also incomprehensible Pentagon budget and the equivalent of the annual revenues of Amazon, Google’s parent company and Apple combined.
Technically, officially, Mr. Hegseth’s $1.5 trillion was a budget request, and it had thousands of pages of figures and line items to go with it. But what’s even more astonishing than its size is that it wasn’t really a budget, not in the way you or I would think of it.
The word “budget” ordinarily implies picking among options, living within your means. Earlier military budgets, even …More
