Padre Guilherme Peixoto performed in a Beirut nightclub: On 10 January, Rev Guilherme Peixoto presided over a Eucharist at the University of the Holy Spirit of Kaslik, Lebanon. Later that night, he performed a DJ set at AHM, a Beirut nightclub.
A legal complaint filed on 4 January by a group including clergy sought to cancel the concert, citing moral concerns. The petition was rejected by a judge on 9 January. The event proceeded after the venue announced that no religious symbols would be displayed and that no clerical attire would be worn.
The performance lasted about two and a half hours and drew roughly 2,000 attendees. The priest played 1990s techno music with deep bass that was repetitive and boring, interspersed with very brief interludes of bells, hints of Gloria and Alleluia, and fragments of symphonic music. Images flashed across the screens: a large white dove, Pope John Paul II, and - of course - a rainbow.

A recent performance in Beirut of Father Guilherme Peixoto sparked opposition from some Christians in Lebanon.
“Not all need to like what I’m doing, but they need to respect. It’s music to bring the church outside of the church,” he said.

Cardinal Roche interpreted Vatican Council II unethically and deceptively : Traditionis Custode is obsolete with the Irrational Premise
From Gloria TV with comments:
Cardinal Roche’s Paper against the Mass in the Roman Rite
Cardinal Arthur Roche distributed at Leo XIV’s consistory last week a text on liturgy. Journalist Nico Spuntoni published the two-page report (facsimile below). It is a strong defence of Traditionis Custodes.
Lionel: We can interpret Vatican Council II with the Rational Premise and the conclusion is traditional and orthodox. Pope Francis wrongly interpreted Vatican Council II with the Irrational Premise to produce a liberal conclusion and the result was Traditionis Custode etc.
Catholics are obliged to interpret Vatican Council II only rationally.

The report was one of four texts distributed to the cardinals. The others were written by Cardinals Tucho (Faith), Grech (Synod) and Baggio (Human development).

About as useful as a screen door on a submarine. But the same could be said about this alleged papacy.

Kierkegaard: “Wherever the crowd is, there is untruth…since a crowd either renders the single individual wholly unrepentant and irresponsible, or weakens his responsibility by making it a fraction of his decision… The crowd is untruth. There is therefore no one who has more contempt for what it is to be a human being than those who make it their profession to lead the crowd…Therefore was Christ crucified, because he, even though he addressed himself to all, would not have to do with the crowd”

Nate offers a brief reflection to help make our love for Our Lady concrete in daily living. The title "No Greater Delight" is inspired by a homily of Saint Bernard of Clairvaux, wherein he expresses his joy in preaching about the Virgin Mother, even though he acknowledges the challenge of adequately praising her. Smart dust spying on your brain

https://www.technologyreview.com/2013/07/16/177343/how-smart-dust-could-spy-on-your-brain/
The real time monitoring of brain function has advanced in leaps and bounds in recent years. That’s largely thanks to various new technologies that can monitor the collective behaviour of groups of neurons, such as functional magnetic resonance imaging, magnetoencephalopathy and positron emission tomography.
This work is revolutionising our understanding of the way the brain is structured and behaves. It has also lead to a new engineering discipline of brain-machine interfaces, which allows people to control machines by thought alone.
Impressive though these techniques are, they all suffer from inherent limitations such as limited spatial resolution, a lack of portability and extreme invasiveness.
Today, Dongjin Seo and pals at the University of California Berkeley reveal an entirely new way to study and interact with the brain. Their idea is to sprinkle electronic sensors the size of dust particles …

Redemptoristtv Bl. Peter Donders, Priest (1809-1887)
Peter Donders was born in Tilburg (Holland), on October 27, 1809. From his youth he felt himself called to the priesthood, but, because of the poverty of his family, his schooling was cut short. However, at the age of 22, with the help of his parish priest, he entered the minor seminary of St. Michael-Gestel as a seminarian.
He was ordained a priest on June 5, 1841. He was thus able to follow his missionary vocation, setting out for Surinam, which was then a Dutch colony. He arrived in Paramaribo, the principal city of the colony, on September 16, 1842 and applied himself at once to the pastoral works that were to occupy him until his death. His letters express his indignation at the harsh treatment of the African peoples forced to work on the plantations.

New Archbishop of Cape Town supports the “rights of LGBTQ+ persons”: Pope Leo XIV appointed Monsignor Sithembele Sipuka to the notable Archdiocese of Cape Town on Friday. In October 2024, the prelate was elected president of the ecumenical body South African Council of Churches (SACC) that was already before him a homosexual ideological group. During the 'National Day of Prayer' in June 2025, the SACC's general secretary read a programme declaration. Monsignor Sipuka stood next to him and bears, as SACC president, institutional responsibility for this declaration. The SACC is committed to “defending the rights and dignity of marginalised communities, including refugees and LGBTQI+ persons”.

New Cape Town Archbishop Sithembele Anton Sipuka is president of the SACC in South Africa. A big company decided to send three employees to a professional development program.
The first one to go was a data analyst.
He came back three days later and reported: “The course was fascinating. They taught us how to build a full analytical model. The model doesn’t actually work yet, but hey — the architecture is gorgeous.”
The second one was a sales manager.
He returned after two days and announced: “Fantastic training. They taught us how to sell anything. If you want, I can sell you my completion certificate — it’s still warm.”
The third was a logistics specialist.
He didn’t return after three days.
Not after five.
Two weeks went by before he finally walked back into the office — tanned, relaxed, and looking extremely pleased with himself.
Everyone rushed him: “Where have you been?!”
He shrugged: “Well… did anyone book me a return date?
Did anyone put down the office address?
Did anyone list a contact person in case I got lost?
No? Thought so.
So I applied what they taught …okunengi

Peter Srsich was 19 when he traveled to the Vatican in May 2012 through the Make-A-Wish Foundation while suffering from advanced Hodgkin’s lymphoma pressing on his heart, so severe doctors couldn’t perform a biopsy.
After intense treatment and suffering, Peter drew strength from the Eucharist and trusted God could heal him. During an audience in St. Peter’s Square, his father gave Pope Benedict XVI a bracelet reading “Pray for Peter.” When Peter asked for a blessing, the Pope unexpectedly placed his hand directly on Peter’s chest, where the tumor was.
From that moment, Peter steadily improved and, against all medical expectations, fully recovered. He later entered seminary and was ordained a priest on May 15, 2021.

New Ferula of Leo XIV Avoids "Nails of the Passion" of Christ

At the Eucharist of Epiphany in St Peter’s Basilica, Pope Leo XIV introduced a new Ferula pontificalis for the first time, VaticanNews.va reports on January 13.
Unlike a bishop’s crozier, which ends in a curved hook, the papal pastoral staff is straight at the top.
The new ferula resembles the famous pastoral staff used by John Paul II, with its prominent cruciform design. However, it omits the crucifixion imagery.
"Christ is no longer depicted with the nails of the Passion," noted the Liturgical Office, "but with his glorified body, ascending to the Father."
It continued: "As in his appearances after Easter, the risen Lord shows his wounds as luminous signs of victory - a victory that does not erase human suffering, but surpasses it in the dawn of divine life."
The Ferula pontificalis has been in use since the late Middle Ages and was traditionally presented to a newly elected pope when he took possession of his cathedra at the Basilica of St John Lateran.
